From Kinpun, the base village of the Golden Rock, there is no direct bus to Nay Pyi Taw. Through your hostel or hotel you should be able to book the bus ticket with transport to the bus station. The bus stop is at the town of Kyaikto, and it is not a central bus station, but rather a stop on the road. The ticket is approximately 9000 Kyats including the transport to Kyaikto. The ride is about 6 hours.

Our hotel arranged a pickup for us an hour before the bus. The pickup took us from Kinpun to the town of Kyaikto, where we were dropped of at the bus stop in a cafe. The bus was scheduled to pick us up at 9.00 am, but came about 45 minutes late.  We were picked up by the bus, and to our surprise had a food stop 20 minutes later. We just had breakfast so we did not want to eat, but this meant that we did not have a lunch stop anymore…

The bus drove through Nay Pyi Taw’s hotel zone where our hotel was, so we got dropped off right in front of our hotel. Nonetheless our hotel was in the middle of nowhere, but so is everything in Nay Pyi Taw…
